Find your nearest service office (servicekontor) on skatteverket.se and book a visit if needed.

Bring your passport, residence permit (if any), and any marriage or birth certificates — translated to English or Swedish if possible.

If you've just arrived in Sweden, ask for the form 'Flyttanmälan till Sverige'. If you're moving inside Sweden, use 'Flyttanmälan' (also free online with BankID).

After registration, create a login on skatteverket.se with BankID to see your tax account (skattekonto), income tax declaration, and messages.

Update your address every time you move. Bills, banks, authorities and your doctor all rely on it.

Each spring (March–May) check your tax declaration (deklaration) — you can approve it with BankID, SMS or the app.

- Most letters from Skatteverket are in Swedish. Snap them in Klara to understand them in your language.
- If you owe tax (kvarskatt) or get a refund (skatteåterbäring), you'll see it in your skattekonto when you log in.
- If you don't yet have a personnummer or BankID, you can still visit a servicekontor in person.
